Tile and Grout – The Cleaning Day
The Process: Tile and Grout Cleaning
- Thoroughly vacuum and sweep the tile and Grout floor, while carefully concentrating on and vacuuming up debris in the grout lines. Additionally, check the floor for staining.
- Carefully mop the tile and grout floor with a damp mop, followed by a tack cloth, which will remove the remaining dust particles.
- Spray the floor with a carefully formulated and high alkaline cleaning solution, intended specifically for cleaning tile and grout.
- Scrub floors with mildly aggressive brushes and pads, which will remove over 90 percent of soiling from microscopic tile crevices and grout lines.
- Repeat the above steps with a solution that is more acidic, and the floors are again scrubbed. If required, rinse and repeat the prior steps, in short, continue until the grout lines clear up and show their restored, and original color.
- Add a neutralizing solution, which will bring the ph back up to normal levels. Finally, the entire floor is mopped until all excess water soap and soiling is completely extracted.
- Floors are extracted and where possible, towel dried using machines.
- Clean all inaccessible areas by hand.
- Leave the tile and grout floor to fully dry for about one hour.
Tile and Grout Cleaning – Results
- All in all, the tile floor will be noticeably brighter, even from a distance.
- Now that the tile and grout cleaning is complete, the original grout color should be overwhelmingly apparent.
- Floors will appear clean and many times, the tile will feel as if it were, in a word, brand new.
- Grout lines will be very apparent and noticeable, and will very clearly reflect the tile pattern.
- The floor will remain slippery and should not be walked upon with shoes for 90 minutes.
- At this point, the tile & grout cleaning should be complete.
- All furniture is then returned into place.
Maintain Your Tile and Grout To Keep It Clean
- Sweep the tile and grout floor weekly, and twice weekly, depending upon usage and soiling.
- Keep the tile and grout clean by mopping weekly, and as needed.
- Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining of grout lines.
- Remove shoes upon entering the house, and request that house guests do the same.
- Grout lines can also be re-sealed at this point to protect it and to delay future soiling.
